He Man

When Brett and I went back to CA for Jason and Lindsey's wedding Brett went up into his parent's attic to find all of his toys from his childhood. He was so excited to find all his matchbox car, Transformers, Star Wars figures and He Man figures. He was especially excited about showing Brayden He Man. We had an argument about whether or not Brayden was ready for He Man. Brett thought he would love it and I thought it was too old for him.

Well...looks like Mommy was right! HA! Brayden wanted nothing to do with He Man. He was actually petrified by He Man and his Battle Cat. Sorry Daddy maybe in a couple for years.

"Binky the Tur Tur"

A couple of weeks ago I made the decision that it was time to say good-bye to Brayden's binky. We had been working on getting rid of this thing for a while and had managed to get down to only naptime and bedtime for over two months. He never asked for it anymore during the day and I never brought one with me when we went out, so I figured the nighttime transition wouldn't be that traumatic.

I decided D-day would be Sunday, so on Thursday I started cutting the tips off his binkies for naptime and bedtime. He didn't even seem to notice that something was different until the tip was practically gone and then he just got annoyed with it and threw it out of his crib. I was so excited and decided to think of a special way to celebrate this big transition.

I decided the Build-a-Bear Workshop at the mall would be a fun place to start. Brett and I took him there to let me pick out any toy he wanted to make and we would put his binky inside the toy so if he ever needed his binky or asked for it, we could hand him the toy and he would be comforted. He was completely overwhelmed by this place and freaked out by the noises of the toys being stuffed, but he managed to set his eyes on a giant turtle (or "tur tur" as Brayden calls them). Below are some pictures of our adventure in making "Binky the Tur Tur".

Jason and Lindsey's Wedding

Brett and I went back to CA recently for Jason and Lindsey's wedding. Jason and Lindsey are a couple of our closest friends and we wouldn't have missed this for the world!

We did this trip without the little man because it was such a short trip, only four days. This was the first time Brayden would be away from mommy and daddy! More importantly, this was the first time Brayden and Mommy would be separated. My mom flew down to stay with Brayden while we were away and through daily phone calls we found out that Brayden could have cared less that we were gone.

Brett and I tried to prepare him as much as we could for our trip by showing him the calendar and telling him we were going on an airplane, but we would be back. My mom said that it worked because when he would get upset and ask for Mommy he wouldn't immediately say, "Mommy...airplane."

The wedding was a huge success and lots of fun for all. Lindsey looked beautiful and Jason looked so handsome in his suit. Below are some of the pictures from the wedding and from the dress rehearsal the night before.

Boy or Girl?

Well...it is official!

We are having a little girl! Brett and I both thought it was going to be a little girl because this pregnancy has been so difficult.

Valentine's Day 2009 is still the due date and we will be welcoming a little girl to our ever growing family!

Hanna Who?

Hanna was far from interesting, pretty lame and tame actually. Really not much to report...it rained during the night and was done when we woke up. We've had random thunderstorms here that put Hanna to shame.

Today after the storm blew through the little man and I played golf around the yard; I figured out the perfect setup for Brayden, Champ and I. Using Brayden's lightweight toy golf balls, I chipped balls around the yard using my golf clubs. Brayden watches all of this and of course tries to copy me. Champ fetches the balls and brings 'em back. Periodically Brayden walks over and throws a ball at me for me to hit at him. This went on for hours today until the dog could no longer fetch and I was tired from the humidity and had to sit down.

I wonder if Brayden will be a lefty. He throws with both arms, but predominatly with the left it seems. Also when he swings a bat or golf club, he's usually got a lefty stance.

Oh yeah, I bought Brayden his first real football today! He loves it; took a nap with it today. He pronounces football "buttball", but he knows what it is when he sees it in the newspaper or on TV. I'm working on getting him to say "Forty Niners"; so far he's not even close. We'll get some practice in tomorrow when we watch the game.

Some random pics of Brayden below. See ya....Brett

Birthday, Beach, and Hurricane?

**Updated with pics**

I'll give the blog thang a shot. Susie normally rocks the updates, but she's pregnant and sleeping right now, so I'll fill in some blanks for Y'ALL. Our camera is on the fritz somewhat, and my computer hard drive is filling up, so this update will be sans fotos.

I turned 30 not too long ago, and I was suprised to see Jason and Lindsey sitting in my house after returning home from a long day of work on a Friday evening. I was suprised yet again the following night when we arrived at a local restaurant to find a table of 10 of our friends all there to celebrate! I was totally shocked everyone was there...probably a better description would be humbled that so many people were there for me. Not to mention JT and Lindsey flying across the freaking country. It was really cool and I had such a great time! Sue organized the whole thing and did a great job. What a cool wife I have. Thanks to her and everyone else for participating in the fun.

*Somehow this was the only pic on our camera from my b-day?? Collin, Me, and Tuan.

Last weekend we went with our friends Collin and Ryan to the beach for Labor Day Weekend. Collin's parents have a house right on the sound by Emerald Isle on the coast...beautiful place. Brayden was a little unsure of the beach, however. He didn't like the feeling of the sand moving under his feet...especially when a wave would come in and out. He pretty much sat on our lap and soaked up the scenery. But he loved seeing the water and the boats.

This weekend we may experience our first hurricane. Keep an eye out on the news for Hurricane (or Tropical Storm) Hanna, right now it looks like it will come right through NC. Raleigh is far enough inland that we're in no real danger of flooding, but it should be VERY interesting to say the least. Hopefully no trees fall on the house.

Next update we'll try to add some pics to this post. See you California folks in a couple weeks.
