Playing and Learning with Brayden

Today was a lazy day at the Robinson household and it was beginning to rain so we couldn't play outside. Brett left to watch the 49er game so I was left to think up games to play with a cranky baby who didn't want to nap.

Behold the birth of indoor soccer and the color matching game! He loved them both and we played for over two hours with both games.

While Nana was here she bought him a new soccer ball that was sized just for him. He has not wanted to play with anything else except that ball. So to have his very own personal goal was a dream come true!

He also loved the color game we came up with and by the end of the color matching game he was getting right every time! Look out world here comes the color expert!

NC Fall Festivals

Today was a fun day at the Robinson household because we took Brayden to Hill Ridge Farms in Youngsville, NC. We kept telling him we were going to a farm on Saturday and every time his response was a loud and happy “MOO!”

Hill Ridge Farms is a local farm that does fall festival activities every year like pony rides, train rides, hay rides, pumpkin picking, fish feeding, face painting, bounce houses, hay slides, etc. Brayden, Brett, Nana and I did almost all of the above besides the pony rides. Brayden wanted nothing to do with those ponies, but he did manage to muster up enough courage to do the bounce house all by himself! He has never really liked bounce houses and I did manage to traumatize him a number of times trying to get him to like them. However today he did it by himself and was so proud. He was so adorable in there bouncing, laughing and having a blast!

Winnie the Pooh and Brayden Too!

Today Brayden, Nana, Landon, Robin and I went to story time at Barnes and Noble to meet Winnie the Pooh!

Brayden isn’t that too familiar with Winnie the Pooh so Nana had been reading books with him a couple of days earlier to help him have some idea. Then randomly I found a baby Winnie the Pooh doll that I received as a gift when I was pregnant that he LOVED.

We keep telling him that we were going to meet Pooh and would always look at us with a serious face and say “Yeah!” Those of you who know Brayden well know that he can be more of a shy child then an outgoing child, so I was convinced he was going to be terrified of a giant Winnie the Pooh person. Well boy was I wrong!

He took one look at that giant Winnie the Pooh and clawed his way to the front of the crowd just so he could say “hi”. He was so happy to see him and didn’t want to leave his side. I felt so bad for the person dressed up as Winnie the Pooh because he was getting bombarded by tons of little monsters all trying to get a piece of him!

After the exciting meeting it home for lunch and a nap. What a good day for Winnie the Pooh and Brayden too!

Brayden and his baby "Pooh"

Today I found one of my old Cabbage Patch Kids that I saved for Brayden. I am trying to see if he is at all interested in being a big brother yet, or if he even understands what it means to be gentle around a baby. He wasn't so into the Cabbage Patch Kid, but he was really into this baby Winnie the Pooh Bear that I got from a friend when I was pregnant.

He was so sweet with it and even wanted to feed it and put it to bed. So, we will see how he does in the months to come when we try to reinforce the fact that there is a real baby coming!

The Many Faces of Brayden

So as you can tell by the pictures below Brayden is feeling much better! He has been the happiest I have seen him in months! I don't know if it is his age, the fact that he is feeling better, or his visit from his Nana, but the kid can't stop smiling.

I was able to capture a ton of smiles over the past couple of days and wanted to share them with you. I am in the process of working with him on smiling in a less-evil way, but for now, this is how he smiles! HA! Enjoy!

First Play Date in Weeks!

Today we invited Brayden's friends over for his first play date in weeks. He was so excited because he was starting to go a little crazy being stuck in the house day after day. Since he has finished his medication and has been feeling better, the doctor suggested we get together with friends first and then take in out and about like normal.
